As we move deeper into our time of fasting, you may start to think, “I can’t do this.” And in a way, you’re right.  On our own, we CAN’T do this. Only by reaching out in faith and allowing God to lead the way can we make it through challenging times.

Mark 9:24 says, “I do believe, but help me overcome my unbelief!”  This verse is a part of the story of a father who comes to Jesus asking for his son to be healed from the possession of an evil spirit.  He has tried everything and is at a point of desperation. His faith is at an all-time low. However, this man’s story shows us that without expectation and faith, there’s no hope.  He offers his request to Jesus with great humility. “I’m having trouble believing anything will work…please help me overcome that!” Jesus responds, “Everything is possible for one who believes,” and casts the evil spirit out of the man’s son.

No matter what you’re going through, looking for, or feeling, God has you in the palm of His hand. If your faith seems in low supply, tell God! Ask Him to help you through this time and to give you the strength and insight to overcome your unbelief.  One of our favorite worship songs tells us to “Raise a hallelujah louder than the unbelief.” Cry out to God and let him carry you, strengthen you, and work for you.
