This is an opportunity where we can focus on our relationship with God.  It’s a time where we force ourselves to lean on Him more than maybe we normally would.  We do that by removing distractions from our everyday lives and actually talk to Him. A good relationship does not exist without open and constant communication.  Let’s be honest, take a few minutes and think back to any relationship you have had where the lines of communication dwindled. Those relationships probably became less and less significant as the communication decreased, to where it became nearly nonexistent. Use this time of prayer to have real and ongoing conversations with God.

Use prayer like a text conversation with one of your best friends rather than a conversation you have with someone once every few months. Instead of a scheduled once a day prayer for a few minutes, a simple, (“Hey God, what’s up? You know I haven’t had meat in nearly a week and feel like I’m dying. Do you know of any kind of vegetable that looks and tastes just like wings?”) works like a champ.  It really doesn’t matter what you are talking about, as long as you are talking. Those little constant “text” chats that never close, build depth. Use this 21 days of prayer and fasting to put God in your favorites list, treat Him as your number 1 go to when you need advice or even to just get something off your chest. He is there for you!

The end of the world is coming soon. Therefore, be earnest and disciplined in your prayers. 1 Peter 4:7
