19 “Don’t store up treasures here on earth, where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal. 21 Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.
Entering this fast, I have intentions of redefining what my treasures are. We all make choices every single day of what our treasures will be. They don’t seem like big decisions in the moment, but they still direct our lives.
I hear (and use) the phrase “I don’t have time for…” way too often. The truth is, we make time for what we want to make time for. We find funds for what we want to spend our money on. We listen to and watch what we WANT to.
During these 21 days, let every time you want to reach for, or do whatever it is you’re fasting from, be a reminder. A reminder that everything we do is a choice. Get to the point where as much as you want whatever you’re doing without, you want God even more.
Let this be a reset. Not that we would have a great 21 days, but that these 21 days would be what we need to redefine our treasures. Where we put our time. Where we put our money. How we direct our lives.
What could you do today, through this fast, and on into every day life that would give you more time in God’s presence? That would more help you live your life on purpose.
