Where Your Trust Is

“Before you do anything, put your trust totally in God and not in yourself. Then every plan you make will succeed.”
Proverbs 16:3 TPT

2019 was a huge year in my life. Me and my family dug our feet into Mexico where we are missionaries, experiencing trials, error, blessings, and amazing moves of God. We were led by God to start our own ministry in October called Hunger House Ministries. This was a very hard decision. Are we qualified? Do we really know what we are doing? Will we have the finances? Those questions and the worry that comes behind them are paralyzing. We knew what the first step was to make sure we would be successful in starting our ministry. Submit it to God in prayer, trust Him with it, and watch Him move.

God is faithful and this passage of scripture is key to anything we do. Small or big. We watched God open doors that seemed impossible. As we were starting Hunger House we realized that we needed a building first and foremost. That way we have a location to feed kids and minister to them daily. We prayed about it, and God brought us to a poor Colonia on the outskirts of Juarez where we knew a family. The woman we knew went to the local pastor who had a house Church in the area and explained to him what we wanted to do there. He immediately was in agreement. He told her that they were beginning to build a church building in another location and they were praying that someone would come turn their house Church into a feeding center to minister to the children in the Colonia. That all happened in 24 hours.

Next thing we needed was the micronutrient meals we feed the children daily. I reached out to Kids Against Hunger who packages those meals and the next day got a reply that there were 2 pallets of micronutrient meals packaged at a church in Texas that we could have for free as long as we could cover shipping. The next day someone randomly donated $500 which was exactly what we needed to have the food shipped to El Paso. Within days, God provided two of our biggest needs.

As we move into this new year, I encourage you to submit whatever you are planning to do to God in prayer and trust and watch Him move. Big or small, it is important to Him. This verse is a promise from God that we can live by and we can watch happen before our eyes. Before you do anything, put your trust in Him, not in yourself, and it will succeed. Some of you are dreaming and planning big things. Things that may seem impossible. Some of you may not have huge plans this year, but smaller plans and smaller steps that you feel God is pushing you towards. Either way, if you begin this year by living out this verse in prayer and submission to God, you will begin to see God move!
