Day 7

By January 16, 2021February 17th, 2021Uncategorized

Here we are again pursuing God in our 21 days of fasting and prayer, or as I call it, fighting and faith. It’s a fight because my body wants food and my soul wants entertainment. It’s faith because I know God has the answers for every decision I need to make and I’m thirsting for His direction in my life more than ever before.

The most important thing in our lives, moving forward, is to be able to recognize and follow the voice of the Holy Spirit in our lives. The problem is there is so much noise going on around us, we can’t hear what He is saying.

We’ve all had this experience, we’re watching television and someone in our family starts talking to us, our spouse, one of the kids, or maybe a guest there watching the “BIG GAME” with us, but we can’t understand them because the television is too loud. So we grab the remote and hit the pause button, and when we do, the noise is silenced so we can hear what is being said.

God’s Word says, “Come close to God, and God will come close to you.” James 4:8 NLT

During this time, we’re hitting the pause button. Ae we silence social media, TV, the radio, and push back from the table it clears away distractions so we can listen more effectively. The physically weaker we are the spiritually stronger we become. The mentally less stimulated we are the spiritually more sensitive we will be. As we are less emotionally entertained, we will actually start being more spiritually in tune so we can recognize God’s voice clearly and have the strength to carry out His purposes.

Prayer moves us closer to God. God responds to prayer. As we move closer to God, God is mover closer to us and His voice gets clearer giving us the confidence to move forward in our faith.
